While the excitement continues to build for Amerivespa 2017 in Seattle, scooterists in Mexico wrapped up their national gathering Monday.

The eighth edition of Encuentro Nacional Vespa México was held in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, which is south of Mexico City (or as some say, CDMX). Organized by the Vespa Club México and Vespanautas SC (the folks who rode to Memphis for Amerivespa 2016), riders from all over Mexico and other countries spent four days (six counting the the unofficial before and after rides) riding, socializing, eating, and if one were so inclined, mountain climbing.

Nelly and scooters

I really wanted to accept my friend Nelly’s invitation to go, but couldn’t. She was on the spot, and shared a bunch of pictures, which I am sharing with you.

Friday saw the group ride to La Morada de los Caballos Ranch in the afternoon, and return to Cuernavaca for the evening meet ‘n greet. The usual scooter rally shenanigans happened on Saturday; the group picture below was taken on Sunday.

As you can see, there were a lot of people. There were a lot of scooters, too.

Lots of scooters

You can still buy a new PX 150 in Mexico.

You can also buy an LML Star (known in the U.S. as a Genuine Stella) with your choice of manual or automatic transmission.

The scenery looked nice. Cuernavaca is known as la Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera, the City of Eternal Spring. That would’ve been wonderful… spring has been a bit more than fashionably late where I live.

#ENVESPAMX2018 will be held in Tijuana. That’s a lot closer. Nelly says she’s going to ride down. I’m hoping to join her.
