Going once, going twice, SOLD!
It’s collector-vehicle auction time in Arizona, and once again Bonhams Scottsdale had a vintage Lambretta on offer.
The Lambretta Li 125 Series 2 pictured above was Lot Number One. While expected to sell for between $12,000 and $16,000, when the gavel dropped the winning bid was $8,200 (total price with buyer’s premium was $9,020).
You’ll recall two years ago a Lambretta TV 175 sold for $22,000. Desirability and meticulous restoration played a role in that price, for sure.
But the fact remains, skyrocketing prices for what have been traditionally thought of as collector cars have people with money looking at other options. This could be the start of a trend with profound effects on the vintage scooter hobby.
Or not. A 1977 Honda Civic was Lot Number 9.
