Amerivespa 2016: Goin’ to Graceland

Parking at Graceland, Graceland… (Jaylin Billig photos)

Day two of Amerivespa 2016 saw four rides leave in the morning, all of which ended at Graceland. Jaylin has the details, after the jump.

Weather is horribly hot today.

But that’s okay… all four of today’s rides had POLICE ESCORTS! That came in especially handy when the ride I was on encountered an accident near the gate to Graceland. We were all able to maneuver around the accident scene with no trouble.

Ride out to Graceland

Graceland was great. Air conditioning? Yes, please!

Graceland living room

The front living room. Whoooweee!

Graceland pool room

I didn’t think it was possible, but the pool room was even MORE flamboyant than the TV room.

Graceland Trophy Room

The Trophy Room is simply amazing!

Graceland graves

Burial places for Elvis, his mom and dad, his grandmother and his stillborn twin. They were brought to Graceland later due to security issues protecting the gravesites. 😦

Elvis' grave

And here is The King. There has been confusion and debate about the actual, correct spelling of his middle name. Here, it’s spelled the traditional, biblical way, with two As. According to a post on the Elvis Australia website,

In the process (Elvis) learned that official state records had inexplicably listed it as Aaron, and not Aron as on his original birth records. Knowing Elvis’ plans for his middle name, Aaron is the spelling his father chose for Elvis’ tombstone, and it’s the spelling his estate has designated as the official spelling when the middle name is used today. In Memphis, Elvis was enrolled in the eighth grade at Humes High School as Elvis Aaron Presley.

And I’m off to find some world-famous barbecue. The Awards Banquet is tomorrow night. —Jaylin Billig
