AUSTIN, Tex.—I’ve had this itch to go somewhere—anywhere—since I rejoined the human race. Being cooped up in medical facilities will do that to you. Being home didn’t really scratch the itch, so when the possibility of travel surfaced, I jumped on it.
I have a dear friend in Austin, Tex. who I’ve known for many years on Facebook and finally met in person earlier in 2015. We’d tried to find a way to meet up, in my town or hers, for years, but just couldn’t make it work. Until now.
I’d never been to Texas. Not even to change planes at DFW or Houston.
Taking my friend up on her longstanding invitation was, therefore, the obvious choice.
The city of Austin has a highly progressive attitude when it comes to motorcycle/scooter parking. Two-wheelers can park in any metered space, FREE! Yes, there is a 12-hour time limit. Did I mention you could park free?
Austin has been in the news lately because of its exponential growth. With that growth, serious traffic congestion soon followed. Austin does have good public transportation; this incentive to roll on two wheels instead of four is an example other cities (I’m looking at you, Seattle) would do well to follow.
I’m here for a week. Stay tuned for further adventures.
