Much like an alignment of the planets, the weekend just past saw two of the world’s biggest scooter gatherings happen on nearly opposite sides of the globe.

Amerivespa 2015, held this year in Indianapolis, was capped at 600 participants. Why? A lap around the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday (photo above) was part of the program. On Saturday, Amerivespa participants happily thumbed their collective nose at Indiana’s recently-passed, so-called “religious freedom” law by participating in the Circle City Pride Parade. That’s why. 🙂

The winner of the Pride Parade scooter decorating contest was Donita Cunningham, representing the Memphis Kings SC, the host club for Amerivespa 2016.

Scooters in Indy

Following the Speedway lap, riders headed for Indy’s Fountain Square neighborhood for the Friday evening party.

Meanwhile, Europe’s biggest Vespa bash, Vespa World Days, filled the streets of Biograd na Moru, Croatia, a town of 5000 overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

Scooters everywhere!

The biggest ride of the weekend happened Saturday, the group heading to Zadar. As you can see, the weather was wonderful.

Zadar is only about 30 km away from Biograd, but the road was filled with scooters.

On the road

In fact, it was a busy weekend for scooter enthusiasts just about everywhere. Hope you had fun! Favicon

Wow! Great to see all the riders out there! And to think that this rally was so close to me and I had no idea. I will have to start paying closer attention to what is going on out in the big wide world!

    Very enjoyable post! Thank you!
