2-wheelin’ in Tacoma

Lotsa scooters

A big group of scooter folk rode around Tacoma on Saturday (FYSC photos)

Rally season is shifting into high gear in the PNW. In spite of menacing clouds, over 60 bikes and riders converged on the City of Destiny for F**k Yeah SC’s second Two Wheels Around Tacoma.

Everyone met up at the Poodle Dog in Fife, Wash.

The Poodle Dog - Good Food

The Poodle Dog has been around darn near forever. It’s the kind of place your grandparents went for liver & onions, now riding the wave of hip diner food at prices that are still reasonable.

The group headed off on a lake tour before stopping at Firkin Frank’s place.

Frank’s neighbors called the gathering, “Scooterpalooza.” Well, the cul-de-sac was pretty much full of scooters.

Everyone chowed down on hotdogs while raffle prizes were awarded. There was also a lawn darts tournament.

While the above photo illustrates why lawn darts are no longer available in stores, nobody got hurt.

The group moved on to Dorky’s for video games, then hit a bargain store to buy cloth. For what? For the toga party at the New Frontier Lounge, of course!

Toga! Toga! Toga!

Lots of attendees were rocking sombreros, too. Music was provided by Emerald City Soul Club and Bandolier, both of which have scooterist members.

Lots of people came from Seattle, a few from Bellingham and points further afield. Good times. There’s a photo album on Facebook, but you’ll need to be logged in to see it. Favicon

    Dear Orin:

This is the spirit I expect to find at all moto rallies. I am delighted to see that the scooter crowd gets the joke. By the way, I love liver and onions… So few places offer it.

    Fondest regards,
    Twisted Roads
