It occurs to me, I haven’t taken a long road trip on the GTS in quite a while. There are some ideas in the works, but nothing definite, yet.

OTOH, a group in Cape Town, South Africa is preparing for a journey from South Africa’s second-largest city to Dublin, Ireland. On scooters, of course.

As you can see on their Web site, it’s not exactly an overnighter. The proposed route covers the length of Africa, the Middle East and southern Europe. They’re planning on it taking eight months, and plan to leave February 1, 2013.

The group aims to highlight the work of Children’s Hospitals, and will stop at 14 of them, including the ride’s launch point, the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. They are seeking sponsorship and donations to cover the cost of this epic journey. If you’d like to help, or learn more, you can get in touch here. Favicon

For some reason when I first saw the graphic, I parsed “Durban,” rather than “Dublin,” which didn’t seem like any humongous distance, to me. 😆
