Ridin' in the city of New Orleans (New Orleans Scooter Cooperative)

Amerivespa 2011 is in the books, and all indications are a good time was had by all. Good food, good rides and no thunderstorms… hey, a good way to cool off is to go for a ride, right?

Final results from the scooter games (thanks Lorenzo for your daily reports!):

Gymkhana: Jason Trott (San Antonio)
Runner-up: Jason Curci (Florida)

Slalom race: Jason Trott

Slow race (overall): Billy d’Kid Hatcher, manual Vespa
Slow race (mp3): Doug Hagemann (MV: old as dirt)

A photographer from the Times-Picayune captured the action, so you’ll want to check out the photo gallery.

Winner of the Vespa Super restored by New Orleans Scooter Cooperative: Cheryl from New Orleans (hey, no worries about shipping it home!)

As reported earlier, next year’s Amerivespa will be in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the weekend of June 23-24, 2012. Co-hosted with the Lake Geneva Scoot Jockeys.

If you missed #AVNOLA this year and suddenly realized you need to ride in the Crescent City once before you die, the New Orleans Scooter Cooperative (the folks who brought you Amerivespa 2011) present Big Easy Weekender 5, March 23, 2012. See you there? We’ll see. The weather there is milder in March… Favicon

UPDATE: Eric added a bunch more pix to his #AVNOLA Flickr set, which you can see here.

UPDATE, June 22, 2011:’s Amerivespa photo gallery is now available. If you’ve got pix, post em!

    Dear Orin:

Thank you for the kind Father’s Day sentiment. My daughter is an endless source of joy in my life. This scooter rally seems as if it was a riot of fun, color, and comaraderie. There is nothing like riding around with a few hundred, or thousand of your colleagues. At least for a while. Some day, maybe next year, I will ride a BMW out to the west coast. I hope it is this K75. And I hope we get a chance to ride together.

    Fondest regards,
    Twisted Roads
