How fast did those things go?

The MSILSF Scooter Land Speed trials were held last weekend, though a change of venue was made necessary by virtue of El Mirage Dry Lake being quite, uh, wet.

There was a good turnout at the new site, a stretch of Route 66 Near Devore, Calif. Click here for results. There’s a ginormous photo gallery here.

The fastest of the fast was Patrick Owens, who pushed his Yamaha TMAX to 90 mph. (I was wondering if Yamaha ever actually sold a TMAX. Now we know…)

The record in the 250cc class was set by Kristian Storli, riding a 1957 Vespa VB1 150 66 mph. Taking the silver and bronze medals were Wald Parker (1980 Vespa P200) and Glenn Geary (Jonway YY250T).

The GTS will go much faster than 66 mph. Hmmm… Favicon
