Friday we drove to Iron River with three goals in mind: check out the dog kennel there for Sierra, go to the Delta Diner Fish Fry™ and, most important, see if the dealer there could to the 600-mile check on the SH150i.
We went to the dealer first: closed, and it didn’t look like it would be reopening anytime soon.
We went on to check out the kennel for Sierra and across the street Rich spotted a boat repair/ATV shop. We thought we spotted a sign that said motorcycles so we went in to ask. We were told they could do it and made an appointment for Monday morning. The owner said it would take about two hours. I thought that was a little long but Orin assures me that is about right so—I will be riding Scoot the 42 miles to Iron River with my husband following (or leading—we haven’t decided) in the car.
Friends have offered their pickup trucks to take the scooter to Iron River; one even suggested Rich ride it there. I turned them down. I feel I need to do this myself. Besides, Rich hasn’t ridden on two wheels for about 40 years, he hasn’t taken the BRC, doesn’t have a motorcycle endorsement. AND he has expressed no interest whatsoever in getting on the scooter.
Here’s a map of my route. I’ll be taking WI 13 to US 2 (the same US 2 that runs between Everett and Spokane —ed.) to Iron River. I’ll have to watch out for those darn deer. Two of them ran across Hwy. 2 right in front of the car on the trip to Iron River, and two more did likewise on the return trip.
