Starry starry scooter

Seen at the VA Medical Center

You've heard of Art Cars, right? This is an Art Scooter. (Orin O'Neill photos)

Had the final appointment concerning my right foot. It no longer looks like a chimichanga, something that pleases the docs to no end. The MRSA has been purged, too. I am, dare I say it, the picture of health. A bit of whimsy would be the perfect way to celebrate, thought the universe.

This Kymco People was in the motorcycle parking area next to the elevator. You’ve heard of Art Cars? Same idea here, though the scooter might present a more manageable canvas.

If you’d like to see the details, click on an image. The files are rather large (and they have watermarks), so you might need to take a break while they download. Use your browser’s “back” feature to return here. I don’t usually do this, but this is an exceptional circumstance.

While it will be nice to get on with my life, having only now figured out the most direct way to the Portland VA Medical Center is a bit of a disappointment.

UPDATE: Had to go back to refill a couple prescriptions, and the Art Scooter was there again! Here’s the front. Favicon

Great pictures and it was nice to enlarge them and see the details. Really an imaginative way to decorate a scooter. I can see doing that – the person probably started with one small area and found it hard to stop.

Glad to hear you’re done with the VA and on the road to recovery.

glad to see you on the mend. Hoping you get back to as normal a life as possible. You seem to be handling the GTS without any difficulties, or have adapted . . .

karen, your observation is a good one. I wasn’t able to talk to the owner, but I’m sure the story is interesting.

bobskoot, the docs say I’m mended. I now have no problem at all getting the GTS on the center stand; the foot was never an issue with riding it. It probably wouldn’t have been an issue with the PX, because lots of people work the brake pedals on old-skool scooters with their heel…

Good news on your foot, Orin. Can’t say I’m particularly fond of the whimsical scooter paint, though. Perhaps I’m too concerned with ultimate resale value ………

I rather like the idea of doing stuff like this with ScotchCal® or other vinyl decal material. If you get tired of it, you can just peel it off!
