Happy Labo(u)r Day Weekend
ABOARD THE M/V ISSAQUAH—The guy in the booth next to mine is snoring. Hope he hasn’t missed his stop, or anything.
Oh, and the captain has announced that we’ll be slightly delayed due to some engine testing required periodically by the Coast Guard. This in addition to the Level 1 Marine Security measures currently in effect. Yeah.
The PX and are off on the Great 2008 Labo(u)r Day Oregon Road Trip. I expect to arrive in Astoria, Ore. late this afternoon or early this evening. Luckily, the weather forecasts for the places I plan to visit or pass through are uniformly sunny and mild, with high temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s Farenheit.
Topping off the gas tank this morning, I was slightly miffed that I missed the 7-Eleven’s $3.999 premium—the price is now up to $4.059. That made a whole seven cents’ difference in the cost of the fillup; I suppose I shouldn’t complain. Gustav is having an effect already, it seems. Part of the reason for this journey is to see how little gas it will take to cover a considerable distance. I’ll post running totals at each destination.
I’m happy you can join me, virtually or otherwise. Check back for further updates, and have a great weekend!
