Fall has landed with a thud in Portland. A week ago Tuesday it was a blazingly sunny 92°F. As I write this, it’s rainy and the temperature struggles to reach 60.
The weather’s much better in Hawai’i.

I’d talked for years about gettin’ the heck out of Seattle. I now realize only a gut-wrenching, life-altering event would’ve actually made me head for the exit. Like, f’rinstance, the one a couple months ago.
For better or worse, I take a ton of pictures everywhere I ride. Certainly, digital photography makes it very easy to take tons of pictures. So here’s what went on the SD card for Spokane Scoot.

SPOKANE—So what did we do all weekend? There was a meet-and-greet Friday evening, then a short ride to a local pub, including a killer view of Spokane, which looks like a miniature version of the Los Angeles Basin, because it, too, is in a valley.

The sun had not risen at 7:00 am. I rode past the groups of tweakers on NE 82nd, toward the airport. This would be the easiest place to get on I-205 and begin the journey to Spokane.
I’ve been waiting for this all year. Spokane Scoot is this weekend, and I’m gonna ride there. And back.
The GTS was a beast of burden (Orin O’Neill photo)
It was warm and muggy at 8:45 am. Time to check on the GTS.

BELLINGHAM—I woke up around eight, and took the GTS to the Mickey D’s on Ellis Street for breakfast. Chewy and Jeanne de Parc du Madison were already there. The GTS felt a bit squishy in the rear as I rode down from Jeff’s, so I thought checking the tire would be prudent. It was darn near flat.
NOT AGAIN!!!
