Euro Moto 2013

Oddly enough, the last time I was in Lynnwood, Wash. I was on my way to a motorcycle show. Unfortunately, that time I didn’t make it.
Happily, this time the Fourth Estate experienced no mechanical failure on the way to Euro Moto 2013, which was held at the Lynnwood Convention Center.
Wait, Lynnwood has a convention center? Really?
It does. A rather nice one, actually.

And there was plenty to see in the LCC’s compact space. The show features local motorcycle/scooter dealers along with manufacturers of accessories and apparel.

You could take a Schuberth helmet for a test ride. There were motorcycle test rides on offer, too.

And seminars on a variety of subjects. This one was about packing sensibly for a long road trip.

There were a few oddities, like this 2300cc Triumph Trike.

And deals to be had. How’s $2,600 off a 2009 Aprilia Scarabeo 500 sound?

Of course there were motorcycles. This Triumph Tiger, for instance.

And this BMW F650 GT. I like the color.

Also in the BMW space was the new C600 Sport scooter. Nicely executed, very comfortable. It has handgrip and seat warmers.

My fave was the 2013 Piaggio Typhoon 50. Powered by a carbureted version of the 4-valve 4-stroke engine found in the Vespa S and LX, it is in theory capable of 144 mpg, and likely faster than the 40 mph top speed claimed by Piaggio’s nervous lawyers. One could get around Bellingham quite nicely on one of these, and at $1,899, it’s 100 bucks less than a Genuine Buddy 50. I rather like the 14-inch wheels; it’s possible the Typhoon 125, which rolls on 12-inchers, will get them for MY 2014.
All in all, an enjoyable show. People have said I didn’t miss much not being able to go to the Seattle show in December. ![]()

Glad you made it to the show. And thanks for sharing pictures.
We noticed it was happening last minute but Brad was doing the Team Oregon thing this weekend and it is a hefty drive.
Very nice show!
