40 degrees and sunny

Scooter parking at Barkley Village (Orin O’Neill photo)

The first day of the new year in Bellingham was sunny, and relatively warm. Unless you were standing in a shadow, that is. Happily, lots of scooter folk found it an excellent day to ride.

Regal Cinemas just opened a new multiplex in the Barkley Village area, so I decided it was worth 11 bucks (!!!) to check out. Of the many films (actually, the place is all digital) on offer, I chose Django Unchained. In case you were wondering, a typical Quentin Tarantino bloodbath. Leave the kids at home.

I needed to stop by Haggen while I was in the neighborhood, and was quite pleased, not just to see the Metropolitan and the Buddy, but to see that their owners get what a scooter’s small footprint makes possible. Both were 50s. There are lots of 50cc scoots here.

Meanwhile, down south in Tacoma Jason and his wife have settled into their new home, so he put the call out to folks in T-town. Firkin Frank answered, and they rode in equally nice weather, ending up at the Spar in Tacoma’s Old Town.

Beast of burden

Warm and toasty once again (Morgan Mahana photo)

Morgan lives in a cabin heated by a wood stove. Which means when the firewood runs out, one must go chop more. Morgan’s Kymco People is a scooter that gets used, for everything. Including firewood hauling.

Hope you had a great New Year’s Day, and here’s hoping 2013 will be a good year for you and yours. Favicon

OKOK. I just wanted to make sure. I don’t remember seeing one styled like that. I actually like it better than mine.
