Happy equinox

Orin O’Neill photos
The shadows have lengthened. Sunset is earlier, and the sun sits lower in the sky with each passing day.
I hate fall.
Until someone can satisfactorily explain just why pitch darkness at 4:30 pm is invigorating, I will be counting the minutes to the winter solstice, when the days start getting longer, a minute per.

In the meantime, watch out for wet leaves. ![]()

Living o the Gulf Coast, I cannot sympathize at all! Okay, by mid-December it’ll be dark between 5:30 and 6:00 and I don’t care for that much, but down here it’s just now cool enough to start riding the motorcycle to work again. Too bad we can’t move to different places for the different seasons!
Here here. Come on Winter Soltice. At least we have pretty colors and warm weather, I guess that is a plus.
Embrace your discomfort Orin — it’s just the chemicals firing some ancient circadian rhythm in your body warning you to gather food for the winter. We’ve not outgrown our programming yet.
Thanks for the reminder of the event. It triggered a post on Scooter in the Sticks.
By the way, 4:30am is invigorating. 4:30pm is just a pain in the ass…
