Still one of us

In case you haven’t already heard, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) announced in the video above that she will resign her seat in the U.S. House of Representatives sometime this week. You’ll recall a little over a year ago, she was the victim of an assassination attempt that resulted in the death or injury of 19 other people.

Her recovery has been nothing short of miraculous, as you’ll see in the video (she was shot in the head at more or less point-blank range). She is resigning to devote her full attention to continuing her recovery.

Ms. Giffords is a fellow scooterist, and was a member of the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus. She hasn’t said whether she plans to resume her political career. Or riding. Favicon

This breaks my heart, tho I understand why she made her decision. Still, a part of me feels that the powers of divisiveness, meanness, and dysfunctional government won a small victory with this announcement. I was actually expecting her to be our first woman president.
Gabby is scary smart, kind, engaging, fluent in Spanish, fluent on border issues, and attractive. She was able to win as a democrat in a VERY republican district. The GOP had a lot to fear from her in the future, and for the next 30 plus years due to her youth.

    Dear Allan W:

Mediocre politicians and leaders of all kinds will always be in fear of people like Gabrielle Giffords. Just as her current progress has been amazing, I would advise you to watch her career closely. I vote her most likely to be a great “Come-Back Kid.”

    Fondest regards,
