Why it’s called the Emerald City

The PX continues to hum along. No issues, nothing has broken, it starts right up, every time. All the better to enjoy the scenery.

Seattle’s nickname is “the Emerald City.” Part of the reason for that is apparent everywhere you look. And everywhere you ride.

The picture above was taken on Lakeview Boulevard, so named for the view of Lake Union it offers. A mature tree canopy is lush, and with the right light positively dreamy.

Another lush greenscape is the Washington Park Arboretum, shown above, a place you’ll find all kinds of 2-wheelers, especially when the weather is nice. Unfortunately, you’ll also find type-A a******s in German luxury cars who think the park road is a freeway. Watch your mirrors.

Golden Gardens is another lush green spot, though Golden Gardens Drive, the twisty road providing access from the east, is still shut down after part of it washed away as a result of the rainstorms of November and December, 2007. Golden Gardens offers more than just greenery; the sunsets can be spectacular.

Remember, green and orange are complimentary colors…

Very nice parkway. Especially like the empty road. My kind of territory.
